01 · The course

What you will do on this course

“Basic Safety Training Refresher Offshore (BSTR Offshore)” is the refresher for work in offshore wind farms. The refresher runs no earlier than 2 months before the valid certificate expires and no later than the day it expires. The training follows Basic Safety Training Standard version 20.

02 · Eligibility

Conditions for taking part

Who it is forPeople working in or entering the offshore wind industry who are required to hold the five core GWO modules.
Prior trainingA valid certificate for the same module that is about to expire.
PrerequisitesA completed Medical Self-assessment form and a valid certificate presented at enrolment.
Medical requirementsThe health self-assessment applies to every course. Swimming ability is not required — it is declared on the form.
DocumentsPhoto ID, mandatory.
What to bring for the water sessionA towel, pool slippers and swimwear.
03 · Outcomes

What you will practise

  • Manual Handling — technique and risk assessment when lifting and moving loads.
  • Fire Awareness — working safely, preventing and responding to an incipient fire, and using the extinguishing equipment at hand.
  • First Aid — giving first aid until medical help arrives.
  • Working at Heights — working with a harness and rope systems, and rescue from height.
  • Sea Survival — using the survival equipment, evacuating safely and transferring from a vessel.
04 · The day

How the day works

An instructor leads a session in front of participants and training equipment.The training pool with the jump tower and a life raft in the water.
  1. 01

    Before the course

    You complete the Medical Self-assessment form and bring photo ID. Bring your valid certificate as well. For the water session, bring a towel, slippers and swimwear.

  2. 02

    In the classroom

    The theory for each module, within 4 days, 08:30 – 18:00.

  3. 03

    In practice

    Practical exercises run at the Bulgarian Maritime Training Centre ground. The lifejacket, survival suit, helmet and workwear are provided by the centre.

  4. 04

    Assessment and completion

    Assessment runs throughout the training. On successful completion you sign the Participant Performance Assessment Form.

Who is this course for?

4 days, 08:30 – 18:00. The training is delivered in Bulgarian and in English.

What documents and conditions apply?

You complete a health self-assessment form before the start and bring photo ID. The refresher runs no earlier than 2 months before the valid certificate expires and no later than the day it expires.

What is included in the price?

Course materials, equipment and PPE, drinks and the issue of the certificate. There is no WINDA registration fee. The price is final, with no additional charges.
