What you will do on this course

“Basic Safety Training Onshore (BST Onshore)” brings the mandatory modules for work in onshore wind farms together into one course: Manual Handling, Fire Awareness, First Aid, Working at Heights. The training follows Basic Safety Training Standard version 20 — the same standard across all 4 modules.

Promotion: With Basic Safety Training you also get the Chester Step Test and Shoulder Measurement at no extra charge.

02 · Eligibility

Conditions for taking part

Who it is forPeople working in or entering the onshore wind industry who are required to hold the four core GWO modules.
Prior trainingNot required. This is the initial training, not a refresher.
PrerequisitesA completed Medical Self-assessment form before the course starts.
Medical requirementsThe health self-assessment applies to every course.
DocumentsPhoto ID, mandatory.
03 · Outcomes

What you will practise

  • Manual Handling — technique and risk assessment when lifting and moving loads.
  • Fire Awareness — working safely, preventing and responding to an incipient fire, and using the extinguishing equipment at hand.
  • First Aid — giving first aid until medical help arrives.
  • Working at Heights — working with a harness and rope systems, and rescue from height.

How the day works

    Before the course

    You complete the Medical Self-assessment form and bring photo ID.

  2. 02

    In the classroom

    The theory for each module, within 4 days, 08:30 – 18:00.

  3. 03

    In practice

    Practical exercises run at the Bulgarian Maritime Training Centre ground.

  4. 04

    Assessment and completion

    Assessment runs throughout the training. On successful completion you sign the Participant Performance Assessment Form.

Attendance alone does not promise successful completion, a certificate or a WINDA record.

How the course is recorded in WINDA

Completed training is recorded in WINDA — GWO’s global online register — against your personal WINDA ID. We make the record and it appears immediately; your employer checks it using your ID. You need a WINDA ID before the course — if you do not have one, we help you set it up on site.
